Who We Are

Justice is not optional. It is the foundation of everything we do.

We are a Forum

Diverse Forum is built on the principle that collective action is the most powerful force for change. Our structure reflects this belief: we are not a top-down organization but a dynamic, collaborative platform where diverse voices come together to confront injustice and create solutions. By working across disciplines, geographies, and experiences, we amplify the efforts of activists, researchers, and community leaders, ensuring that those closest to the issues are at the center of the decision-making process.

We operate as a decentralized network, fostering partnerships that connect grassroots movements with global campaigns. This approach allows us to remain adaptable and responsive while maintaining our commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and shared leadership. At Diverse Forum, every voice matters, and every contribution strengthens the fight for justice.

SUSTAINABILITY PLEDGE

Our fight for justice must not compromise the very environment we're trying to protect.

At Diverse Forum, we acknowledge that our advocacy work, while aimed at protecting communities and ecosystems, creates its own environmental impact. From documentary production to community organizing, we strive to minimize our footprint while maximizing our impact for justice.

Zero-Waste Workspace:

Our office operates on 100% renewable energy, uses recycled materials, and maintains a strict no single-use plastic policy.

Local First:

We prioritize Miami-based talent and resources to reduce travel emissions.

Digital Innovation:

Virtual reality activism and remote training programs reduce our need for physical materials and travel.

Public Transit Priority:

Staff use Miami’s Metrorail and bus system for local campaigns.

Flight Reduction:

We conduct international solidarity work primarily through digital platforms.

Local Partners:

We build capacity with community organizations across Florida to minimize long-distance travel.

Digital Distribution:

Our reports and documentaries are primarily distributed electronically.

Sustainable Equipment:

Film gear is sourced from eco-conscious suppliers and shared among local activist groups.

Cloud Computing:

We monitor and offset our digital carbon footprint through local renewable energy investments.

Ethical Banking:

All funds are held in community-focused credit unions.

Clean Investment:

We reject funding from fossil fuel companies, industrial agriculture, or unsustainable development.

Local Power:

We invest in Miami-Dade’s community solar projects and support Indigenous-led conservation initiatives.

Rather than traditional carbon offsets, we invest directly in:

Little Haiti community gardens

Mangrove restoration in Biscayne Bay

Solar panel installations for low-income housing

We’re developing a comprehensive carbon reduction strategy for 2026, focusing on:

100% renewable energy for all operations

Zero-waste film productions

Expanded virtual reality activism tools

Enhanced support for local environmental defenders

Equity & Anti-Racism

Building an Inclusive Movement

Diverse Forum recognizes that the fight for environmental and social justice must be led by those most impacted by systemic oppression. We are committed to fostering a culture that not only welcomes but actively centers marginalized voices, particularly in our Miami community where diversity is our strength.

We believe that true justice requires dismantling all forms of discrimination. Our commitment extends beyond mere statements to actionable policies that promote equity in:

Hiring and advancement

Story selection and narrative control

Resource allocation

Leadership opportunities

Community partnerships

Specific Commitments

Maintain majority BIPOC and LGBTQ+ representation in our leadership team

Prioritize hiring from communities directly impacted by environmental injustice

Create paid fellowships for undocumented journalists and activists

Ensure stories are told by community members themselves

Provide multilingual content

Compensate community sources for their expertise and time

Zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment, or retaliation

Regular anti-oppression training for all staff

Flexible religious and cultural observance policies

Equal pay transparency across all roles

Quarterly public reports on diversity metrics

Community advisory board with decision-making power

Dedicated budget for accessibility accommodations

In Florida’s current political climate, where attacks on DEI initiatives threaten progress toward equity, we explicitly:

Reject attempts to silence discussions of systemic racism

Support educators teaching accurate history

Defend LGBTQ+ rights and gender-affirming care

Challenge anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies

We recognize economic barriers to activism and therefore:

Provide living wages to all staff and contractors

Offer paid activist fellowships

Compensate community members for their time and expertise

Maintain transparent salary ranges for all positions

Our commitment to equity is not static. We continuously:

Audit our practices for hidden biases

Expand our understanding of intersectional justice

Adapt our approach based on community feedback

Challenge ourselves to do better
